Westlin Weavers News -- 2003 Archive
June 20, 2003 -- The debut CD of one the area's most exciting new bands will be released this weekend at San Diego's premier Scottish event.
The Westlin Weavers proudly announce the release of "To
The Weaver's Gin Ye Go," a fast-paced blend of traditional and
contemporary Scots, Irish and English favorites.
The CD launch will take place at the 30th annual San Diego Scottish Highland Games and Gathering of the Clans on Saturday and Sunday, June 21-22, 2003, from 9:00 AM-5:00 PM each day. The Westlin Weavers will play two shows each day, and will join the other entertainers in a pre-Games concert on Friday night, June 20, beginning at 7:00 PM at the Moonlight Amphitheater in Vista.
The Games and the pre-Games concert will both be held at Brengle Terrace Park, 1200 Vale Terrace Drive, Vista, CA. For more information or to order tickets, visit the site or contact the Games at sdshgchief@earthlink.net or call (619) 645-8080. Tickets will also be available at the gate both days.
Selections from the new CD will also be performed by the band Saturday night at Churchill's Pub & Grill (formerly the Camelot Inn) in San Marcos. Owned and operated by the same team that brought you Shakespeare's Pub in the Little Italy section, Churchill's is fast developing a name for providing great food and beverage and great times -- as well as some of the best Celtic entertainment in North County. During its days as the Camelot, the pub was the home of Jeanne and Marc's previous band, Glenfinnan, on the first Saturday of every month.
The Westlin Weavers are: Jeanne McDougall on guitar, recorders, dulcimers and vocals; Marc Townsend on bodhran, whistles and vocals; Patric Petrie on fiddle, mandolin and vocals; and Alex McDougall on vocals and percussion.
