Westlin Weavers Join Headliners at the Celtic Classic

Weavers help kick off the first annual Valley Center Art & Music Festival!

 

February 1, 2003 -- The Westlin Weavers will bring traditional and contemporary Scottish music to the main stage to Valley Center's first-ever Celtic festival!

The Valley Center Art & Music Festival -- Celtic Classic will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2003 from 11:00 AM-6:00 PM at Valley Center Park, 28246 Park Road in Valley Center.  Valley Center is located approximately ten miles NNE of Escondido, CA.

The Westlin Weavers will perform on the Main Stage from 4:15-5:15 PM.  Special guest dancers and musicians are expected to join the band, and aficionados of Scottish country dancing are especially encouraged to attend -- stay tuned for details!

Other entertainers on the Main Stage include the popular Irish group The Fenians from 1:00-2:30 PM, and the House of Scotland Pipe Band from 2:45-3:15 PM.  Entertainers on the Pavilion Stage include Irish harpist Mayruth "Ruthie" Culver, the Naismith Academy of Highland Dancing, the Carrickfergus School of Irish Dance, and the Valley Center Youth Talent Show Finalists.

Other activities include a Youth Art Contest and a Fine Arts Show.  Lawn activities include community painting, a silent auction, book signings by local authors, rock painting, a raffle drawing, face painting, and hat-making by the Rad Hatters.  Both Celtic and American food will be sold, and beer and wine will be available.  For more information, visit the site or contact the Valley Center Parks & Recreation District at (760) 749-8852.
