Westlin Weavers join line-up at 2003 Sea Chantey Festival

Annual Event Aboard the "Star of India" a San Diego Favorite

April 8, 2003 -- The Westlin Weavers will join some of San Diego's most exciting folk performers at the annual Sea Chantey Festival aboard the tall ship Star of India in the San Diego Harbor.

Sponsored each year by San Diego Folk Heritage, the festival features music in the seafaring tradition ranging from work "chanteys" to all sorts of ballads, reels, and other songs of the sea.  The Weavers will perform selections taken from an extensive repertoire of sea songs during a set beginning at 12:05 PM on Sunday, September 21, 2003.

Other performers at this year's festival include the band's Irish cousins Skelpin as well as:  The Jackstraws, Bill Dempsey & Connie Allen, Tom Lewis, Gilman Carver, Ken Graydon, Crew, and Raggle Taggle.

The Star of India is the world's oldest active sailing ship, and is one of the historic ships at the Maritime Museum of San Diego.  She has been called the foremost symbol of San Diego, and a reminder of the glorious time when men and women voyaged under towers of masts and clouds of canvas.
