Westlin Weavers Bring Celtic Music to Rock 'n' Roll Marathon

Internationally Known Suzuki Event Adds World Music to Line-Up

April 18, 2003 -- The Westlin Weavers will cheer on the runners at the 2003 Suzuki Rock 'n' Roll Marathon with a performance along the race route on Sunday, June 1, 2003.

20,000 marathoners are expected to participate in this year's event, which is a qualifying race for other major events including the Boston Marathon.  More than 40 live bands will entertain runners along the 26.2 mile course.  The weekend-long event of music and running will culminate in a performance by singer/songwriter Chris Isaak at the Coors Amphitheatre on Sunday night.

The Weavers will be performing on Stage 15, just past the marathon's mid-point.  Spectator parking is available in the South Shores parking lot next to Sea World.  To reach the lot, take I-5 to the Sea World Drive exit, then go west on Sea World Drive and turn right into the South Shores parking lot just before Sea World Park. Stage 15 is located about a mile west of the parking lot, at Sea World Drive and Ingraham.

Sharing Stage 15 with The Weavers will be the band's Irish cousins, Skelpin.  Together, the bands will keep the music going on the stage from the time the first runner reaches the stage until the last walker passes by -- roughly from about 7:15-11:15 AM.
