Live Scots Music Returns to North County

Churchill's Pub & Grill Announces Friday Night Entertainment Line-Up

July 4, 2003 -- North County residents once again have a place to hear live Scots music on a regular basis!

Churchill's Pub & Grill has added live music to its Friday schedule, alternating between Scots favorites The Westlin Weavers and Irish singer/guitarist Michael McMahon.  The pub is conveniently located at 887 San Marcos Blvd., just two blocks southwest of Rte. 78.

The Westlin Weavers debut tonight, and will be featured every other Friday night from 8:00-11:00 PM.

Before being acquired by its present ownership, the pub was known as the Camelot Inn and for many years presented live music from a variety of British Isles entertainers, including longtime Scots favorites Glenfinnan.  Glenfinnan members Jeanne McDougall and Marc Townsend became part of the original line-up of the Westlin Weavers in January 2003, and are happy to return many of the old Glenfinnan traditions to the pub -- along with dynamic new arrangements of contemporary Scots/Irish favorites!  Lots of audience participation, singalongs and, yes, the coasters are back -- you'll have to drop by to find out what that means!

Churchill's has undergone major renovations and is fast becoming recognized as North County's premier U.K.-style pub.  The pub is styled after the quaint cottage pubs of England and Ireland with wooden floors throughout, antique booths, a cozy lounge with fireplace, and an English beer garden.  The menu has been totally revamped and is winning kudos from critics around the county, and the wide range of beers on draught include Stella Artois, Guiness, Harp, Bass, Boddington, Newcastle, Fullers, McEwans and many more.  Come by for dinner or a game of darts, or sidle up to the beautiful wooden bar and knock back a pint -- you'll always find a warm welcome and a smile!

The Westlin Weavers are:  Jeanne McDougall on guitar, recorders, dulcimers and vocals;  Marc Townsend on bodhran, djembe, whistles and vocals;  Patric Petrie on fiddle, mandolin and vocals;  and Alex McDougall on vocals and percussion.
