Holiday Music
The Westlin Weavers present songs from a wide range of holiday and winter traditions, including familiar carols and popular songs as well as a great many tunes that are not often heard -- especially those of the Celtic tradition.
A Westlin Weavers holiday event may be tailored to meet the needs of your event ... whether you're looking for a performance ... an interactive session with audience participation ... or an old-fashioned singalong.
The following samples from our archives feature the blended sounds of dulcimers, recorders, bells and more, and our trademark female harmonies. The addition of fiddle, mandolin and accordion this year make for an even richer holiday experience!

The tradition of the Yule log dates back to Druid times, when fires were lit to drive out the sins and evil of the old year. In early Christian times the log became a part of the Christmas celebration, symbolizing Christ as the light of the world. This popular Welsh carol describes the Yule tradition as it was observed in Wales. |
| Pat-a-Pan | In France, carols are known as “noels,” and this one, from Burgundy, tells the story of the original “little drummer boy” who went with fife and drum to serenade the newborn King. |
| I Saw Three Ships | Christmas legends about ships are common in seafaring countries. This medieval English carol describes the arrival on Christmas morning of the ships bearing the Holy Family. |
| An Dro Nevez | The “an dro” is a circle dance originally from the Vannes area of Brittany that is danced to mark the winter solistice and the new year. “An Dro Nevez” is a variation of the “an dro” from Nevez, a town in the Finistere section of the province. |
| Auld Lang Syne | Though best known today as a New Year's Eve song, this traditional Scottish "leave-taking" song is appropriate for expressing friendship and good will all year long! |
