California, our home

When they chose the colors for the California state district tartan, they were surely thinking of a scene like this.

The image that serves as the background for our site was taken at the majestic Torrey Pines State Reserve, an oasis of natural beauty that sits on the Pacific less than a mile west of busy Interstate 5.

You're looking west toward the Pacific;  to the left (south) is La Jolla, and to the right (north) is Del Mar.  In between is a little slice of paradise, forever preserved for future generations to enjoy.  John Muir would be pleased!  Muir was the Scottish-born Californian regarded as the father of modern conservation, and whose tartan provides the set for the California tartan.  This picture was taken on April 22 -- the day after Muir's birthday and, since 1970, Earth Day in the US.
